Re: 4agte suggestions

Personally I am a huge fan of high compression and low to moderate boost. Only slightly off topic... but I am interested in this comment. I have a low mileage smallport long block that is completely stock... never been opened. I have been keeping it as a spare, and was considering maybe swapping in...

Re: No power HELP!

CHARGE fuse should have a yellow wire that runs to the alternator. Check the voltage across the battery before you atart the engine... should be 12 volts or just under. Start the engine and check the voltage across the battery. If it does not rise to around 14 volts or slightly more, then the altern...

Re: Blacktop issues, misfire when warm

Could be the answer. I don't think COP igniters are covered in OEM installations, and heat is definitely something that kills them. Then, if you are batch firing the COP's, they are firing four times as often as they do in an OEM sequential firing setup... so they will get hot. Maybe leaving the val...

Re: Blacktop issues, misfire when warm

Check the wires from the distributor to the ECU. Make sure they are not damaged, pinched, burned, rubbed bare on a sharp edge, bad crimp connector etc. The pickups inside the distributor are pretty robust, so unless they are loose and moving around, they don't usually give problems. My question is do replace all the valves if they are some seating improperly in cylinder 1 or could I just regrind the valves. I did check the valve clearence and the max the they were out was a thou of an inch. If you are going to pull the head, to fix one leaking valve, you might as well take all...

Re: No power HELP!

Hmmm... if you have 12V in the battery, and fuses and links are all good, you MUST have 12V further down the line. Some items (lights, wipers, horn and such) get pretty much direct power, and should still function even if you have damaged other stuff. Start at the battery and work away from it, test...

Have you actually tested the fusible links on the battery positive terminal ??
It it usually one of those that blows, and you can't always tell by just looking
at them. Get a multimeter and test them for continuity.

Try this... locate the Fuel Pump test plug, and make yourself a jumper wire for shorting the two pins together. Next time that you have been parked for over an hour and expect the car to be hard to start, before you try and start open the hood. Insert the jumper into the FP test plug. Turn the key O...

Sitting for a while ? Shouldn't be a problem... none of those parts go
bad from just sitting. And it's not a 5 minute job to replace them, so I
say check the oil and water and fire it up :) Fresh gas might be a good
idea if it has sat for more than a couple of years.

Re: HKS super charge for ae86 4ag

HKS supercharger is old school gear... made for the 16V bigport engine. You can't use it on a 20V without a lot of modifications, as there is no provision for fuel injection. The 16V has injectors in the head, but the 20V has injectors in the inlet manifold. And the inlet ports won't match without a...

Looks like a nice piece, but I don't think there are a lot of them around. And making it fit is more than anyone can do over the interweb. You really need to figure how far it has to move over, and how far it has to lift (make some marks on the tubes with a sharpie) and go talk to a clever exhaust g...

I think that you are gonna have to visit an exhaust specialist who can TIG
stainless, and discuss a little cut and weld to make it fit.

PIM is the voltage signal out of the MAP sensor, and varies according to manifold pressure. Converting the figures in the table to kPa absolute, PIM1000 = 8.45 kPa and PIM11000 = 106.49 kPa. Hence it can be seen that the PFC should be able to control up to 1 bar of boost, and for N.A. applications o...
