Re: Pumping Brakes = Stall?

There are two ways that the brakes are connected with the running of the engine. The first way is by the vacuum hose. Pumping the brakes "uses up" vacuum, and some air gets sucked out of the booster and into the intake manifold. If this tiny amount of air did anythng at all, it would sligh...

Re: impossible timing!

This stuff kind of makes my brain hurt... but I think you should have turned the rotor one tooth CCW instead of CW when trying to get the adjustment range below 15 deg ??? I don't know what the standard timing is for a 4AC, but I would guess that 15 BTDC at idle is pretty close. Cheers... jondee86

It's got a blacktop 20v motor in it, with a slight rod-knock, he says. He says this and he is bailing out ?? Dude... I would be super cautious when looking at this car. You need to figure that you are going to be up for re-building the engine, and take that into account when considering a price. Ot...

If the problem is caused by heat radiating from the exhaust tubing and heating the floor, the best solution is to prevent radiant heat reaching the floor. Therefore, in order of effectiveness, you have these possible solutions... 1. Reflective heat shield that allows airflow on both sides, mounted b...

Re: Te72 Shifter Shaking

I would be surprised if the shifter shaking at constant speed is caused by bad engine or transmission mounts. Twisting of the engine and transmission is more likely to be caused by uneven power impulses from the engine. Maybe you have one cylinder down on power from a blocked injector, bad spark lea...

Maybe I can clear up a bit of confusion here ?? 1. What is commonly referred to as a "short shifter" is actually a "quick shifter". It is designed to change the geometry of the shifter to make changing gears quicker, and by coincidence, this also makes the throw shorter  2...

The two tubes pointing down are for the water hoses. The two tubes pointing out without caps are for the P/S. The one with the cap is for the A/C idle-up (I think ?). The water tubes don´t need to be capped, but all other tubes must be capped. Use a piece of hose (or whateva) to see if you can easil...

You need to look underneath the throttle body and see if the thermostatic idle-up valve is still there (part inside the red circle). Often, if the valve does not work properly, instead of fixing the valve, it will be removed, and a blank plate fixed in its place. Then you will get the cold starting ...

Inside the distributor is all solid state... just reluctors to read the timing wheels, and generate very low voltage signals for the ECU. You could check the wiring for signs of chafing or damage just where the wires enter the distributor and flex a lot... and make sure the connector plug is pushed ...

Your engine is already broken in if you have completed the procedure I posted. Now you should change the oil and filter and drive the car in a "sporting" manner. This means constantly varying the engine speed and load by using all the gears. And don´t be afraid to run it to red line now an...

Could this happen if the one way valve in the vacuum pipe was fitted the wrong way around ? Not if having the one-way valve around the wrong way, was the only thing wrong with the brake booster. All that would happen is that there would be no vacuum assistance. The pedal would be hard, and you woul...

Turning the keyswitch ON will supply power directly to the injectors, ignition coil and igniter. It will also put 12V on the EFI Main Relay coil. When the ...
