Re: Sakura Fab: 4AG Heat Screen Intake Manifold Gasket

... Would there be any benefit to a gasket like this for the OE throttle body? Not really as the intake manifold is where all the heat is transferred from the head to the intake charge. In turbo'd applications, after the charged air is cooled by the intercooler, it loses some of that cooling/regain...

Sakura Fab: 4AG Heat Screen Intake Manifold Gasket

A 4C/7.2F-10C/18F degree change in air temperature (increase or decrease) will cause a 1-3% horsepower change. These gaskets will lower the temperature of the intake manifold by at least 11C/20F and benefit both naturally aspirated & forced induction environments. http://i1129.photobucket.com/al...

Sakura Fab: W58/R154 to AE86 Transmission Mount

A perfect piece to help complete your 1UZFE swap into your AE86. This mount will space the bottom of your R154 or W58 transmission at the transfer case 2" from the chassis. Well gusseted and instead of tack welds the mount incorporates full run & penetration welds. http://i1129.photobucket....

Re: FS: 42mm/18mm & 42mm/20mm rods

42mm / 18mm? Not 40mm / 18mm? The motor I pulled them from was a poorly maintained 4AGE. I pulled the motor from a customer's GTS, disassembled the motor as I inhaled the stench of putrefied, well done oil and saw the destruction to the number 4 piston skirt. I even posted up polaroids of the pisto...

FS: Weber 36 DCNVH carburetor Used $125 shipped

This came directly off of a 1985 Maserati Biturbo (sealed carburetor setup) just recently. Even though it's in great shape for its age it'll need a rebuild. Both barrels are 36mm with 30mm venturis. Comes with the factory phenolic spacer. The carb is Made in Italy. Would be great for another sealed ...

Base Jettings (DCOE style) for stock 4AG motors

Phil, I forgot to mention that the above jettings are geared for "Power" rather than all around driving and where peak power is at 5500. Here are more base jettings: If other jettings share the same size(s) as the previous sets then I've omitted them. Please reference the set above the one...

Re: Carbureting the 4AGE essentials

Phil, your name sounds so familiar. I'd back you up on the small port / hi comp motor choice. 30-32mm chokes is pretty much spot on for a stock 16v (preferrably 30). I've heard a few people mention the ER&D Hyperpak so sounds like that's solved for you. Ball park jettings are as follows: idle/pi...

3.5 psi is plenty. Come down on those idle jets some and try 190s for your airs on the mains instead of 200s.

Okay, 57.5 is pretty big for a 1.8. I'd definitely start with say 52.5 or 55s and 190 airs. I'd even start with 50s.

carbd7 , what are all your jettings? Post a link to 'em if you already listed them. I would start with jets from a 3TC setup if you haven't already: idles: 50-55 airs: 190 mains: 145 pumps: 40 Ignore this if you're already past this point. The choke/starter system springs should be static, pulling ...

The idle SPEED screw is what you want to affect changes to. All your idle mixture screws should be turned out the same across the board.

You set the carb that reads the highest to the one that reads the lowest.

Awesome thanks Jonas! I never had them tight tight, just finger tight until they touched the bottom. I've seen them overtightened and punched through the carb shell. I'll go try that stuff. I need a manometer.... I know what you mean - I've seen them seized up in them where the area around the port...
