Re: Hesitation at low rpms

I think 10% C2H5OH is kind of a loose point, but if you want you can look up "Top Tier" gas companies. They are non-ethanol make-up pump-gas options at stations like BP I believe, I personally don't like to run Ethanol based, but I don't think it'll kill yer baby :). The best thing you can...

Re: Another 87 Gt-S Daily Coupe

Great coupe' grapple! On the carpet.. I've done both cut-pile (aftermarket), and spray (rattle can). I had brands of each which were top-tier but ended up being a fail. The spray worked the best, but it ended up graying out wherever feet scuffed for long periods of time (a couple of months). I would...

Re: Kitsunami's 86 SR5 to GTS swap

Congrats man. Before I blew the motor I just sat in the car while I was finishing suspension and had a drink just hearing it run for motivation lol. The timing was a pain in the ass for me. I ended up finding out one of the adjustment bolts (right side) was stripped. Setting the timing can be a fini...

Re: CloudStrife's AE88

So 86 is finally back in my garage. Refused to do anything in the dirt as it's just a mess in FL. My first accomplishment is removing the engine and transmission, and getting the engine bay ready for paint... Just wondering, Awkword, I think you did this, and a couple others.. What's the best way to...

Re: Paint interior parts and door panels

Honestly, I don't think it's worth it to try and paint interior parts. Even with SEM "interior" paint, I still had issues. Also, even at it's best result, the paint would scratch and score very easily. I would recommend just using a quality satin or flat black (non-gloss) wrap. Then you ca...

Re: CloudStrife's AE88

Sooooo

I texted my friend who has the 86 at his house (he's a shop mech) and asked him if he was free to haul it back here. He asked me what I'm gonna do with it.. I said I dunno! lol.

Then he said to leave it, cuz he's "got plans for it"...

TO BE CONTINUED???

Re: Radio wiring help....

Hey dude, Been there done that. I ended up actually using the reverse harness like home boy suggested, (I think that exact model). But you gotta have the wiring diagram! It's just gonna be a huge headache without one. Even with one, it can be tough, as getting a free service manual might be zenki wh...

Re: Where can I buy an AE86 windshield without a tint band across the top?

Boy, I just cringe when I hear "resto-mod" LOL. Anyway, I did a lot of research on this a few years back. Basically, there are only one or two generic sources for the glass, and I'm not sure if they come with the tint screen or not, but trying to find one without it is like intentionally l...

Re: CloudStrife's AE88

Well, I have a GF now and I bought a couple of nice golf shirts at Bealls Outlet. But seriously, I've decided on selling the GS-R and another car. More than likely getting a 97' AE101 as a daily so I can decide what I want to do. None of my DD's are doing their job well so just need to triage things...

Reliability

So this is more a rant/philosophical debate I had in my head tonight. I like to play this weird game where I create formulas to calculate a kind of, well, "fun factor", I guess power to weight ratio. I divide ft lbs of torque at a certain RPM (or adjust variables), with respect to curb wei...

Re: WTB: AE86 LHD (drivers) speaker cover in black

Ebay usually has the front speaker covers. Check those regularly. It's easier too find than rear hatches as it's shared across coupe/hatch. Not sure where you're located, but I usually: 1.) check Ebay 2.) Check local CL ads for part outs/ parts for sale (asking for something that's not for sale is a...

Just FYI, when diving into the world of 90s BRIDE seats (Japan) it can be a little daunting. Most US enthusiasts don't really know the differences and/or care. As far as BRIDE: BRIX models are concerned, I believe it's 1, 1.5, and 2.0 are the different variations. They are NOTICEABLY different, espe...

I have just been moping around all depressed and **** lol.

I really don't think I'm gonna rebuild this motor myself. I might start looking into shops to do a stock rebuild on the 16v.

Any ideas on cost?
