Re: OST-045: 5AGTE.... again ;)

Amazing work as always. How the heck do you get those shallow coolant passages around the chambers so clean? One of the costs.... I have each head cleaned and pressure checked at a machine shop. In this case the head did come to me cleaned already, but I still had it checked for its pressure holdin...

Re: Racecar: ITA AE86 with provenance(history)

Hey oldeskewl, I have another odd request. Is the A/C idler tension bracket still bolted on? If not, did it come with the purchase? I have been desperately trying to find a factory manual rack AE88/86 with the tensioner bracket in place. Ian right now it has a Nevo crank pulley, alt and water pump....

std bore?

DNJ P927 pistons, along with Honda Prelude rings. Should run about $125 for both.

Re: head work or bottom end?

Headwork! Just know the limitations of the bottom end. No sense in building a top end to destroy the bottom end. Typically, the bottom end can handle 9000rpm with the weak link being the oil pump. My current engine is running 8500rpm limiter with a totally stock bottom( yeah it bounces a lot and I ...

Re: head work or bottom end?

smallport n/a There is no reason to spend BIG $$ on the bottom end... it does need more piston(compression)... and the internals could be lighter... BUT @ 10.3:1 you are already pretty good there, plus the addition of a metal gasket(ASSUMING blocks deck is perfect) bumps that higher.... If n/a small...

Re: toda 264 10.3 lift vs hks 288/272 10.lift

What management? What static compression ratio? Whoops 10.5:1 HKS supercharger similar to SC12, so it won't benefit from an engine that spins over 8000 rpm.... I'd stick with the Toda 264 cams. Just make sure you don't have an interference issue with either cam - they both are tall enough that the h...

there were 2 TRD headers.... the original was a 4/2/1 type that was discontinued in the early 90s.

the 4/1 version came out later, late 90s, to 2000s.
