Re: OST-050 - A VERY special build

With cam timing "corrected", it's time to do a rough setting on ignition timing. Set the crank pulley to 10 degrees, and set the distributor to #1 http://ost.ebeans.ch/albums/userpics/10005/ignition_timing_2_panel.jpg At the same time the TPS was set so it should start and idle. With the n...

Re: OST-050 - A VERY special build

the pulleys (BOTH) move about 1.5-2.0 degrees counter-clockwise. Another thought though would be to keep the pulleys stationary, and move the crankshaft clockwise to take up the slack..... moving the crank clockwise 1.5-2 degrees to take up the slack means we have retarded cam timing. To confirm, w...

Re: 4ag Blue-top Build Advice

https://www.wiseco.com/Catalogs/SportCompact/AB17SC-Subaru-Toyota.pdf Based on the info in pdf above... you really don't want that piston... it is a extreme piston - I don't recommend Crown volume that large (either 5cc, or 5.9cc) is huge. Stock 9.4:1 piston is negative 3.8cc, and high comp(10.3:1) ...

I checked with one crank maker... his reply, "The only way to make that type of crank is out of billet, the engineering cost would be very high and we would have to make at least 5 at a time and there is not advantage to it."

I see 1-3 rod caps have been shaved a bit, and the 1 & 4 thinner counterweights have new holes. Everything is so clean, it's hard to tell which of the larger counterweights has new balancing. Is that an optical illusion, or are those domes coated? I guess it's the rougher surface not reflecting...

That's a lot to cut... was it that bad? Seems like there won't be much left to cut for a rebuild. "bad" - no... there is a small flow advantage when the head is cut to the point that the chambers edge meets the "squish" zone smoothly. In addition a smaller chamber allows for a b...
