4AGE crankshaft position sensor bracket

https://s33.postimg.cc/h8gxrspy3/DSC_0446.jpg So here's the reason progress has been slow recently with my aw11 bike carb 4age build. I have been working on improving the design of my crankshaft position sensor bracket for the 4age engine and putting it on the market. Compared to my prototype and v...

Re: 4age on bike carbs

She is alive! https://youtu.be/24XLDCwBqP4 I figured out how to work around the COR. I replaced it with a tachometric relay from a BMW. Seems to work great. I will soon post full details on the wiring. There were some initial issues with the start up, I had a kink I missed in my fuel supply hoses. R...

Re: Ignition key source

Use the original wires where possible. So use the black and red ecu power wire to power up the ecu, use the coil and igniter power wire to power up your new coil(s) this is probably black and orange. http://club4ag.com/tech-data/tech-specs/4a-ge-16v-japan-ae86-ecu-pin-identification/ According to t...

Ignition key source

So I'm doing a bunch of wiring and have a really stupid newby question. What is a good wire to use an ignition key source, so something that will be powered on when the key is in the on AND start positions and powered off when the key is in the off position. What would be a good wire to tap in for t...

Re: 4age on bike carbs

You will need a fuel pump so you will need a relay so you might as well keep the Circuit Opening Relay (COR) It has 5 wires but you will only need 3, I don't know AW11 wire colours but they may be similar to an AE86. Black and Red is ignition positive, equivalent to pin 30 and 85 combined. Black an...

Re: 4age on bike carbs

1. The tacho signal comes from the igniter (black wire with red rings in an AE86) it is also in the diagnosis connector as IG- if you trace this wire inside the car you can find where to connect your new ecu output to it. Also you may need to use a tacho adapter between your ecu and the rev clock, ...

Re: 4age on bike carbs

So today I decided to hack up my wiring harness. I realized that I can have a very nice and clean engine bay by amputating a lot of the connectors from the wiring harness, since I won't need most of them anymore, considering my fuel supply will be handled by the bike carbs and my ignition by the nod...

Amazing work as always. How the heck do you get those shallow coolant passages around the chambers so clean? One of the costs.... I have each head cleaned and pressure checked at a machine shop. In this case the head did come to me cleaned already, but I still had it checked for its pressure holdin...

So basically it won't work because there is too much vacuum in the intake manifold?

What if I add an actual pcv valve somewhere before the intake manfiold?

Alright, definitely makes more sense. Took me forever to figure out the system counting down from atmospheric pressure. So, any thoughts on my pcv system for the bike carb conversion? "So for my bike carbed 4age setup I am thinking about having a hose from the cam cover breather go to a catch c...

Re: 4age PCV how does it work

Thanks guys it's clear now. What they were essentially trying to do is to separate the vapors from the oil itself. That damn complicated baffle inside the cam cover finally makes sense. It's there to help prevent oil getting picked up. They didn't plug the pcv hose into the manifold itself because t...

4age PCV how does it work

Was looking at the intake manifold today and got curious. I always thought that outlet for the pcv on the intake manifold is simply open on the other end, i.e. the crankcase vapors go to the manifold, but they don't, rather they seem to end up somewhere in the throttle body? Why is that? And why doe...

Temperature sender question

Just a quick question. I have been looking at the ECU pinouts to try and figure out the temp sender and temp gauge and their wiring. As far as I figure I don't need the stock ECU in order to keep the coolant temperature gauge working properly. All I need is the temp sender and it's connection to the...

Re: head work or bottom end?

I'm really no expert when compared to some of the guys on this forum, but I think working on the block and working on the head really go hand in hand and separating them is weird. A lot of compression without the right cams makes no sense, just like aggressive cams with stock compression also don't ...

Re: FS: Various 4age bluetop (early bigport) parts and more

I have gray connectors with 2 pins each. Not to derail a Buy-Sell-Trade topic into technical talk, but that distributor might be off an AE92. For the US market, I know for a fact that the smallport dizzy has two small-ish grey plugs, smaller than the two round AE86 / AW11 connectors. I'm not sure a...

Look at that beautiful power curve. Only a supercharged 4age can have that. It's rising so aggressively right from the bottom! This must be a blast to drive. Amazing build right from start to finish. No wonder the SC AW11 was the fastest car in its time to 30mph or something. Correct me on this if I...
