Re: AE86 Good Drivers Car?

Ahhhh the age old argument about wich is better the Miata (MX5) or the AE86. Its unfair to compare them to eachother i think as one is a 90's 2 seat convertible with a tendency to be drove by hairdressers and the other is a 80's 4 seat family hatch / coupe with a tendency to be over priced and full ...

Re: Who runs without timing belt covers ?

I did for a year or so on my old engine circa 10 thousand miles and will be again on my new engine wich is a high comp build. old http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll215/lewyg/IMG_4840.jpg New http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll215/lewyg/1001295_549527781749212_1046245126_n_zps8498130e.jpg If a b...

Re: Koyorad? Or Mishimoto?

Ive used Mishimoto rads on a few of my cars and always been good.

Im now using a Driftworks supercool rad on my AE86 and its great quality for less than the above 2 rads and works just as well.

Re: My Super long drawn out AE86 hi comp build

I think 180-200bhp is a good number for a NA 4AG engine with side draft carbs. But you know how it is for the quest of more power, once you have it you can never get enough of it and you want more and more. lol Can't wait to see your dyno chart once you get the engine all dialed in. Yeah it seems t...

Re: My Super long drawn out AE86 hi comp build

This is a bad a$$ build LewyG!! I don't really have any imputs about ur build, just a couple of questions. Before ur rebuild, how much HP do you think you were running? And now that you have rebuilt and up-graded your engine, i know ur still working out the kinks on it, but how much HP do you think...

Re: My Super long drawn out AE86 hi comp build

I think that brings me about up to date with the build so far. She now runs under her own steam just getting the last few little touch's done to it like refitting bodywork and sorting the lights out etc as the loom has been fully redone. Engine spec as it stands AWT polish and ported head with arrow...

And this is how she looks at the moment back rolling on her own feet and just waiting for a complete wiring loom to be sorted but hopefully very soon she will be fired up and back into life. To be honest i can't wait as its been getting worked on for 2 years now :( http://i289.photobucket.com/albums...

Re: My Super long drawn out AE86 hi comp build

Styling wise not much to report , I have some carbon front wings to go on. There 25mm wider than standard so will negate a chunk of the NCRA's 25mm extra track but i intend to run wide low ET wheels aswell. http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll215/lewyg/IMG-20121128-00326.jpg http://i289.photobucket...

Re: My Super long drawn out AE86 hi comp build

On the suspension front the TRD fronts and rears were pretty tired out with a few weaps and the bone shaking hard ride sort of confirmed that. Unfortunitly at the time DW didn't have any CS2's in but i managed to get hold of some equally good Greddy Type S coilovers for a decent price. http://i289.p...

Re: My Super long drawn out AE86 hi comp build

Cooling will now be taken care of by a DW rad , all the shitty old hoses have beem replaced with Samco's in black of course and i have a Mishimoto Fan shroud with twin 12 inch fans to replace the old mechanical one. http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll215/lewyg/553122_471726272862697_1323603006_n_z...

Re: My Super long drawn out AE86 hi comp build

While everything was out i decided to tidy up the engine bay as it was a dirty shade of white , wanting to keep it simple and clean i chose to do it black. I know it will be a nightmare to find leaks but it will stay cleaner longer and looks stealthier IMO wich i like. http://i289.photobucket.com/al...

Re: My Super long drawn out AE86 hi comp build

After mulling it over i decided an engine conversion wasn't for me so i set about a rebuild. I managed to snag a AWT prepared head for good money and some Cat cams in with the deal. http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll215/lewyg/IMAG0181.jpg It would of been rude to mate all this to a standard botto...
