Re: 4age on bike carbs
Hey! What parts did you get in the carburetor kit and what parts did you buy separately? Is the vacuum distributor thingie part of the kit? I'm gonna do the same conversion on my Carina, just need to set up a budget

Gonna be awesome info for my project, thanks!
Looks like I will have to buy new conrods if I want to upgrade my block so I might just do a refresh on the block and focus upgrades on carbs and the head..

Re: Carbed high comp 16v build
If "My pistons" = Wiseco, then you are correct. You would need to find either, a whole different crank, and rods(with 18mm small end), or get different pistons. Do you have the spec sheet with these pistons? Do you have a few clear pics of them? No pictures as of now. My bigport engine is...

Re: Carbed high comp 16v build
My pistons are 18mm wrist pin. From my research I found out that the smallport have a 20mm wrist pin. So the wiseco pistons will not fit the smallport conrods then, right? If "My pistons" = Wiseco, then you are correct. You would need to find either, a whole different crank, and rods(with...

Re: Carbed high comp 16v build
Are pistons different in bigport/smallport? Or rather the bolt connecting it to the conrod? Heard something about that..

Carbed high comp 16v build
Hey! I have some parts laying around that I thought I might put to use, so I would need some advice and tips. Partslist: Wiseco pistons (think it's their smallest oversize) HKS 264/272 cams TRD 0.8mm Headgasket New valvesprings (unsure if stock or not) I would be using these carburetors: http://www....

Re: 4A-GE not responding well to full throttle
The fuel always ignites when the piston is on the way up... for example at 35 deg BTDC. What I am suggesting is that the spark might be TOO EARLY for your engine. You have changed the operating conditions by raising the compression, and the timing map in the factory ECU may have too much advance fo...

So you're saying it should ignite later, right? Like right now it might ignite when the piston is still on the way up?

Re: 4A-GE not responding well to full throttle
What provision have you made for the knock sensor and O2 sensor ? For the knock sensor i welded a nut to the block where it would sit on a smallport block. I've had this engine in my car before but without the TRD headgasket. Didn't notice any issues with the setup back then. The o2 sensor sits in ...

Re: 4A-GE not responding well to full throttle
Fuel filter isn't that old, maybe a year. There wasn't any issue like this with the stock smallport I had before so I assume the fuel pressure is fine. Since it's a tvis engine with a non-tvis intake I thought it might get a different airflow than it wants which I guess would affect performance. Com...

4A-GE not responding well to full throttle

Bigport block and head Smallport pistons TRD 0.8mm Headgasket HKS 256° Cams Smallport intake (w/ T3 adapterplate) Smallport ECU, injectors, distributor, etc. etc. The car starts and runs fine but doesn't respond well to full thro...

3T-C > 4A-GE swap
I have a RWD 1983 Toyota Carina TA62 with a 3T-C engine. Would a FWD 4A-GE fit in the engine bay of a TA62 Carina? What would I need to modify except for the gearbox, to get a FWD engine to work for RWD. I read somewhere that all I need to fit a FWD 4A-GE in a RWD car is another bellhousing paired w...
