It is appears that you have an "S" series diff. The Corolla' s built with an "S" diff will have a 6.38" ring gear and either a 3.9 or 4.10 ratio. The center section will have 8 attachment bolts. The "T" diff, which comes in the GTS, will have 10 attachment bolts an...

Re: I think I broke my AE86

It sounds like you got water in the engine some way but it appears that you have dodge the bullet. I would just keep an eye on the oil and also the coolant level. Put a mark on the coolant over flow bottel at it's current level. This will make it easy to tell the level is changing. DaveW7

Re: I think I broke my AE86

Yupper the old head gasket trick!!! I would not drive it until it fixed. There a good chance that you can screw up the head sealing surfaces. Buy an OEM or a good after market head gasket such as a Fel-Pro. Do not cheap out on a head gasket. The rest of the gaskets in a kit should not really matter....

There is the possiblity that the outer ring on the crank pulley has moved. My first 4AGE had moved almost 20 degree from TDC. Since then, I've had another one off by about 6*. Remove number one spark plug and insert a long screw drive or rod, if you do not a dial indicator. Slowly crank the engine b...

Another issue is the RH motor mount bracket. The FWD block will probably already be taped for the engine mount bracket, but the FWD alternator mounting bracket will interfer with a stock AE86 RH mounting bracket. You will need a RWD alternator mounting bracket or fab/mod your own engine mount or mod...

The big port is not a torque motor, it needs to rev. Simple solution is a down shift. With that said, it could be bad gas. I would try switching to a different brand of gas, or go to a medium grade first to see if there is any improvement. It is hard to believe that a stock motor has problem with de...

The water lines to the waxstat should not prevent the engine from idling. In fact it should cause it to idle at a HIGHER RPM. I'm thinking your issue an injector problem. That is actually what I used, Just attached a hose from the tank vent with a loop in it. While you are at the bike shop pick up a roll-over inline check valve. Both are low buck items.

Re: 4AG 20V Charcoal Canister eliminated

You are going to have to vent the tank, either thru the gas cap or a breather. Air has to displace the fuel being pumped to the engine. You can probably use the current line already in the car and just run it to your air cleaner. Dave W

If you opened the bleeder valve and the brake is still locked, I would bet that it has to be something with the caliper. If the caliper is really worn the piston can jam inside the cylinder. Also check ALL the surfaces that the brake pads slide on. I assume that when you cracked the bleeder that flu...

You may not have enough free travel in the master cylinder push rod, to release the pressure to the rear axle. [ you have to uncover a bleed port in the M/C.] Do you have a return spring on the brake pedal? You also need 1mm of free play at the master clyinder push rod before it engages. It's also p...

Are you using aftermarket head bolts? They sometimes restrict the oil flow to the clylinder head. The kits typically have one bolt with a reduce shank and under head radius for the oil port location. Dave W

For the setting up, ride height you need locate the car on four level pads. Your typical garage floor can easily be off by a 1/4" [cross-car] plus the floor will slope towards the doors. You need four pads, with the appropriate pad shims leveled to within a 1/16" or better. Mark the floor ...

I have to agree with Jondee86 when it comes to holding down the lifter buckets. It is a PITA to hold down the edge of the bucket the tool. If you have more then a couple shims to adjust, it is much easier to lift the cam. If you do not have to adjust the front valves you can actually leave the belt ...

There is another possible cause. Check to see if the cam has shifted f/A and is centered over the buckets Vs offset, which would cause the bucket to slide up/dwn Vs rotating. There could be enough tolerance is the cam lobe core to affect just a few buckets. Dave W7

You be $crewed! If you had a rare engine, a machine shop could actually sleeve the bucket bores. Time to look for another used head in better condition. You need to find what caused the problem.
