Re: Injector firing

The big port injection system is very primitive, when compared to current systems. The injectors are fired in pairs for two cylinders at a time! I do not believe there is any way to alter the injection timing with a stock ECU. One cylinder is always going to be to early, or to late relative to valve...

Re: What gear oil to use in T50 and Diff?

I have had very good results with Red Line MT 85 in the trans, do not use any GL-5 rated oil in the trans, because of the syncho's made from a brass alloy. For the diff, I use Valvoline 75W-140 with 4oz of Ludrilon gear treatment. I would not use any type of additive in the trans, only GL-4.

Re: Steering Rack U-joints AW11 vs AE86

I'm using a U-joint from a 1991 Camry, which is slightly longer than the stock AE86 joint, but there is enough spline on the steering column to fit it . I'm also using a stainless steel U-joint from Flaming River, that is about a 1/3 of the cost of a Toyota joint.

I would try to put a heat shield around the oil filter and adaptor. Is you temp sensor located near the exhaust system, or is air flow restricted in the engine bay?

Re: Front brake calliper slider pin cap

A brake rebuild kit is not going to have that cap. I would look for an old tail lite bulb. Try cutting the socket end off, "shorten" then crimp or epoxy the cap to the caliper. Try bleeding the rear calipers. You can get air all the way up to the master cylinder when working on the front c...

It should not make any difference using a longer tie rod end, as long as you have enough depth in the threads, to adjust for the change and you have the correct toe in. I assuming that after adjusting the toe, both sides are going to be very close to the same overall length and the steering rack pos...

That is probably your waxstat located under the TB. First remove the two small water hoses and blow-out lines and block fittings or replace the water lines. Re: Keeping it simple and stupid.

You will have to pull the engine so you can "V" notch both sides of the crack. Find a weld shop that does cast iron and has Nickelcast rod. Welding cast iron requires a very clean surface and pre-heating before welding. Do you have or are you using the engine to trans brackets that tie the...

Re: Head cc volume on 3 rib bluetop MAP setup

A standard big port 4AGE head will have a typical volume around 36 to 36.3cc’s and a chamber volume with a standard head gasket of 39cc. Note an un-cut head is 116mm (4.566”) thick. Taking a .004” thick cut on the 4AGE head will reduce the volume by about .5cc’s. If you use a thinner then stock head...

Re: Anyone knows the name of this hose and the part #?

Yes, the air from the engine cam cover enters the intake throught the hose. The 4AGE only has baffles in the cam cover and no PVC. That is why you see some cars that auto-cross during hard cornering have a puff of smoke from the exhaust, because the intake just got some oil sucked in from cam cover ...

Re: Anyone knows the name of this hose and the part #?

That hose is for venting the crankcase gases. The 4AGE hose dose not have a PVC valve in it. [Positive Ventated Crankcase.]
It is not a special hose! Any hose with a tight fitting ID can be used as a replacement.

Re: Overheat problem on small port 4AGE

Sounds like a head gasket. Do a compression test or leak down test. Typically cylinders number 3 or 4 are the ones that fail.
Do not use a cheap replacement head gasket. Use Toyota or band name like Fel-Pro headgasket.

Re: Headache and a Half -starting/rev cut

I think you are on the right path with the fuel pump. Let the car set over nite and than crack the fuel rail banjo fitting and see if you still have high pressure in the system. Sounds like the pump check valve is leaking down and the pump can not keep up with pressure and volume at higher RPM. Davew7

The master cylinder push rod end goes into the booster, that end should be tilted down. The outlet is where the brake lines attach. You pump the M/C until you no longer have any bubbles in the brake fluid, then install the M/C. Now that the M/C is installed, l would try jacking up the front of the c...

Bench bleed, is just filling the master cylinder on the bench before installing. It lets you angle the M/C out-let ports upward while bleeding so you do not have any air trapped inside.
