Re: AE82 rear suspension design

Thank you all for the input.
Yoshi, I checked out the F360 page. Yikes! $1200/year!
Looks like I'll tolerate Sketchup a while longer 8-)

Re: AE82 rear suspension design

Assuming that this is your rear suspension... https://partsouq.com/catalog/images/toyota/images_GR_B3/MC9690A.png Yes, that's the one. I've had a hard time finding (all) the stock rubber bushings for this application. Whiteline seems to have the poly sets available, but not sure I want to dump all ...

Re: AE82 rear suspension design

Hi jondee86, The FX16 GT-S has two separate control arms (parallel), a trailing arm, and the McPherson strut. Also a sway bar. I just did some doodling in Sketchup, and it actually looks like it won't bind if there is not a lot of travel. I drew a line depicting the axis of the control arms, then pi...

AE82 rear suspension design

Hi, I am designing a full tube frame to mimic my now deceased FX16 GT-S circle track stocker. While drawing the rear suspension and mounts in 3d using Sketchup, I noticed a possible anomaly. What keeps the rear suspension from binding when it travels? Control arms pivot at an angle (essentially chan...

Re: 87 Corolla FX (FWD) GT-S PART OUT

Hi taroroot,
I can't seem to message you, sorry.
I don't rallyX the FX-16. I do circle track stock car racing.
Getting rid of the stock chassis as it's rusted out, building a tube frame.

Re: 87 Corolla FX (FWD) GT-S PART OUT

Hi Folks, I too have some FX parts I'd like to see someone use, rather than throw away. 1987 FX16 GT-S: - Complete side skirts (rough but usable) - Grille - "Spoiler" for top of hatchback (broken but fixable) - Engine crossmember - windshield lower "thingy" (sheet metal cover tha...

Re: 4AG w/TVIS engine mods

Thank you yoshimitsuspeed for all the great info.
Will "chew on" this for a while and save some money up.
Gotta' finish disassy on the engine and clean up the block, then start getting parts to reassemble.
Thank you also to oldeskewltoy for the good info.

Re: 4AG w/TVIS engine mods

Thank you yoshimitsuspeed for the info. When you talk about the Supertech oversized pistons, what exactly do you mean? Are they longer on top, thereby creating a smaller cylinder volume when they are at bottom of stroke? Please excuse my possibly stupid questions as I am new to engine work  I ...

4AG w/TVIS engine mods

Hi All,
Beginner here, so please bear with me.
If I slap some cams in my 4AG to get a bigger valve lift, do I need to modify the pistons to accommodate the extra lift?
And if I shaved the head a bit, same question?
Thanks,
Brian

Looking for AE82 Corolla FX-16 GTS stuff

Looking for 1987 AE82 Corolla FX-16 GTS stuff.
Pretty much need to be pointed in the direction of where to get such things as aftermarket ECU, and other performance parts.
This is for a circle track car.
Thing I need to find ASAP is performance control arm bushings (polyurethane?)
Thanks,
Brian
