Re: rear end bearings

Just go with good bearings, especially if you are going to put a welded diff, which interprets to you wanting to slide your 86 and a cheap bearing will just be a waste of time and $...i wouldnt even put $10 bearings on a skateboard lol

Re: Bump steer after aw11 manual rack conversion

If your 86 is lowered more than 1.5inches from stock you will need front RCAs to alleviate the bump steer, if you have RCAs and your bump steer is still persistent then your car is too lowered. You have 3 option, go back to powered steering, raise your car up, or just live with it. I honestly think ...

Re: WTT Clean Subaru 2.5RS Coupe Rally Blue Pearl for AE86 GTS Hatchback

I totally agree with you on how its a simple platform and prices are stupid, but the same could be said about a datsun 510, vw mk1, bmw 2002, rx3...they are sought after collector cars that usually start off at 10k for a descent good running one and the 86 is now in that niche...super clean 4-5k Gts...

Wow, bro I would try and trade something with a full interior when asking to swap for such a mint GC8 offering lol. if the 86 is super solid mechanically, no accident clean titled, and straight its a better investment in the long run than the subie, interior is important but you can still find inte...

All SR5's should be track cars lol haha good one, but sadly its other way around, most Gts models are far from being unmolested to say the least, many fall between the resto mod and drift missile category lol....i think there are far more unmolested, non abused, clean titled Sr5s out there that gts...

Thankfully I did my GTSR5 swap many years ago when it was cheap to get a GTS coupe and swap it all over to a hatch. Let's face it though, the cost for parts and just these cars in general will just continue to rise. Imagine what an unmolested stock GTS will be worth in another 30 years lol. i highl...

Re: what happened to the community

I think the club is just seeing a change at the moment, but i believe in the near future C4AG will see a return but in a different way. The reason i say this is because the 86 is stepping into "classic car" territory, just like many cult cars before it, like the bmw 2002, datsun 510, rx3, ...

Re: AE86 SR5 Rear End?

All im saying is the Sr5 rear will hold up no probelm, but dont expect a dramatic performance gain from a 4ag vs a 4ac with a 4.1 or even less 3.9 final drive. Honestly, the 4ag is only producing about 20 more hp and 15ft-lbs of torque more than a 4ac, probably a solid strong 4ac makes about the sam...

Re: AE86 SR5 Rear End?

The SR5 rear axle is more the adequate for a stock 4AGE. The SR-5 axle [S series 6.38 ring gear] will have a 3.9 ratio or a 4.10 axle ratio. The axle is probably the 4.10 since the original car was an automatic. This ratio, actually better suits the power band of the 4AGE engine. Dave W i completel...

I ended up spending 3 bucks a piece. Only thing is that you have to reuse your old injector connector rubber boots. Mine were ratty, so I found some at the junk yard. If you really wanna go cheap and don't need brand new, I found most dohc cars from around the same age share the same type of inject...

I have been running for several years without the TVIS system, and have not had any issues. If the engine is in good shape, you should be able to adjust the throttle stop and air bleed, once it's up to temp. I'm idling just around 1,000 RPM, with a lite Wt flywheel and crank pulley.
