Re: 4age 16v Bigport knock/tick after rebuild? (Video Enclos
Timing was good (both mechanical and ignition dead on) and the tensioner was replaced during the rebuild. Turns out piston #3 has a bit more clearance than it should which I think was causing the slap. It was also the piston/rod I pulled out of the other engine so go figure. I guess right now I have...

I have not pulled the head off yet but that was gonna be the next step. I checked it all before original rebuild and all was within oem standard limits

4age 16v Bigport knock/tick after rebuild? (Video Enclosed)
I recently broke in my freshly rebuilt 4age 16v after it spun rod bearing last summer. As of now, it has about 250 miles on it and I noticed this noise (Lower gronny noise after blipping the throttle). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jspZVGnszIU It was a lot more faint at first start (kinda sounded ...

Re: TRD 0.8mm Headgasket torque specs for bluetop? Copper sp
There is still a raised ring where it leaked, my thought was from the pitting or low (dark) spots in the block was what could have caused it to leak. Right now I'm stuck trying to decide it repainting and copper spraying the gasket would actually seal it this time or if I should go with a regular he...

Re: TRD 0.8mm Headgasket torque specs for bluetop? Copper sp
Hey guys, so it's been awhile but did get it started and for the first 100 miles the gasket held without leaking or burning anything, unfortunately though it did start to leak majorly and head to pull the head. The leak was at the rear of the engine, just behind the cyl. 4. Just a few of the surface...

Re: TRD 0.8mm Headgasket torque specs for bluetop? Copper sp
Thanks for the replies guys, the information and suggestions really help alot. From what I'm hearing from most of your replies has made me a little more at ease about the situation with the chance that it may seal. Tonight I did one final pass on the head bolts to 55 ft/lbs and I guess I'm gonna hop...

Re: TRD 0.8mm Headgasket torque specs for bluetop? Copper sp
In my case, I haven't had a TRD head gasket fail(crosses fingers, knocks on wood, etc.) I am also the assholio that reuses them too. From this are you saying when reusing them or on initial install brand new? What do you think I should do in my situation? Take it off to spray it with copper or leav...

Re: TRD 0.8mm Headgasket torque specs for bluetop? Copper sp
Thanks for the reply, I guess right now I am kinda kicking myself in the rear for not being more cautious on possibly one of the most crucial part of engine reassembly. I guess I just thought that since it hasn't even been heated or any fluids ran past/through it, right now would be the best time if...

Re: TRD 0.8mm Headgasket torque specs for bluetop?
It was before the prep of the block when I was picking up the head after he milled it. He didn't even say anything about the copper spray, but to use a sanding block with 220ish grit to clean it off and give the new gasket something to "bite" into rather than being completely smooth. Aroun...

TRD 0.8mm Headgasket torque specs for bluetop? Copper spray?
Hey guys, sorry if this is a frequently asked question but did some searching just before posting this and not coming up with a deff. answer. My engine is a stock 16v bluetop, I had the head milled, but not the block as I was notified by my machinist that he thought the block looked fine for a metal...

Re: What does this plug into?
Yep, it was the same with mine and taped together in the same loom, guess I never noticed it when I took the few pieces out. I really appreciate the help and pictures for reference guys. One quick question for reference of getting codes for a check engine light, I take it you have the same harness b...

Re: What does this plug into?
Yep, the last posted picture is the same as my harness, I have the two others (ac idle up and electronic idle up) connect to where they should go but like Deuce Cam stated, the yellow circled one is in about the exact spot mine is hanging. So with it being a jumper, just leave it alone or tuck it aw...

Re: What does this plug into?
Hmm, I'll have to look into that, I haven't really ran the vehicle yet but I have a green connector onto another piece next to the airbox that kind of looks like that VSV, but with a matching green end but I think that may be the Idle up solenoid.

What does this plug into?
Hey guys, I'm finally getting my corolla road worthy again, but it's taken longer than I thought it would and kinda forgot where this plug goes to. The vehicle is a 1984 Corolla GTS hatch with flip-ups if it helps any. http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/ad182/Pidge526/975419_10152818945580411_888080...

Re: Panhard bar / lateral bar DIY
I was just curious as you used the regular zinc-plated steel vs. aluminum or stainless (which cost 5x as much) how are they doing against corrosion? i'm just curious how these would hold up or how they are holding up to road debris, salt, dirt, sand, etc.? I'm interested in making one myself versus ...

Re: Motor/Trans Mounts - Which do you prefer and why?
My bad, totally forgot about them lol. I guess I didn't look into them that much as it seems TRD parts for these cars are really hard to come by or long discontinued. Idk, I guess I never really looked into them. Are they also a hardened/reinforced rubber material? Thanks for the heads up on the cle...

Re: Motor/Trans Mounts - Which do you prefer and why?
Yea that's kinda what I was thinking, do you know if there is anything harmful to it being lowered? I mean besides the possibility of scraping the pan if someone's vehicle is that low but I take it the main idea is a lower center of gravity?
Thanks for the reply

Motor/Trans Mounts - Which do you prefer and why?
Hey guys, I'm soon to purchase a new set of motor/trans. mounts for my AE86 as they look to have never been replaced and replacing a few other bushings/parts to get ready for this season. The car will be used for a daily, along with some occasional weekend drifting from time to time. I do not mind s...

WTB: 6kg Rear Springs
Hello, I am looking for a pair of TRD/Swift/etc. rear springs at 6kg/mm. I currently have TRD 5.1kg's but would like to go to 6's as I'm setting the car up for drifting. Otherwise if someone would give some input of their opinion if they think that the 5.1's are stiff enough with a stripped interior...
