looks like your club4ag engine link is dead. I know u have other postings about the net it'd be cool if u had a blog page or something, where that valuable info could be reliably preserved (no photosuckit) even if in a condensed version Your 1.6 redtop is a meticulous outstanding effort. Re: 4AGE automatic

"plenty of torque" is relative tq from a boosted motor, on another level than its normally aspirated counterpart... hence different gearing requirements the extra gear won't do anything for acceleration, in the examples listed For your build, the J160 is a perfect application imo.... exact...

Re: Keep the bigport? 7age build

for a daily driver tvis could only enhance 7age torque. Yeah, 160hp require fairly aggresive cams, that might leave the intake behind ? dunno Vehicle use & hp goals would dictate intake - broad midrange tq, or peak hp if screaming around with noisy ITBs, where the tach rearly see under 5000rpm =...

Re: Keep the bigport? 7age build

search the crapload of 7AGE builds on the net. More than a few raved about their bigport 7A builds I'd imagine you're after the torque increase. Its CRITICAL u get cam timing in sync. Some fail = disappointing performance I'd keep TVIS & intake (unless u got ITB plans). Look into smallport pisto...

Re: Keep the bigport? 7age build

I want to build a 7age, but have been given advice to dump my bigport head for another option. Is all lost with the bigport?

No. Only thing lost, is the one who gave u that advice.
From normally aspirated street to 500+hp, bigport been there done it

Re: 4AGE automatic

Running an auto has been in the back of my mind for a long time. Looked at fitting a later model auto from an Altezza but just too much work to get it installed in an AE86. Control would be a problem as well, as it would need an aftermarket trans controller and that is another heap of work. GS300/A...

at the peak of the turbo craze, countless turbos added to much younger stock 4AGs Dunno anybody that sets up a turbo car for 200,000 miles.... especially in todays changing world. turbo'd stock bluetops done 300hp. Stock GZE bottom ends seen 4,5,600hp Don't see much point overbuilding. u r off to a good start. Will that HKS exhaust not strangle a 4agte.... looks kinda small I'd rethink forced induction. If you want a power car this is the wrong chassis. cool to see a clean street FX16. Sad to see this one get 'unplugged'

so this is a 10.7:1 TVIS bigport .....with TVIS working ?
Torque looks beefy(for a na 1.6) from down low. Would be interesting to see a stock torque curve overlay/comparison
I'd imagine the FX drove strong?

ca18 was my lowest cost path to a turbo corolla. Good 'fit', already 1.8, strong 5spd, tweakable oem electronics, etc.. "Keep it toyota" tax = $$$$pend considerably more Fortunately, skills & brains can drastically reduce a 4AGTE budget.... down into the 'good performance value per dol...

3SGTE is your only option, and it is arguably the fussiest and most costly vs nissan, mitsu, mazda, 4s Turbocharging the 4AGE would be the "best fit" imo. Set any 'reasonable' goal, and the runt has delivered, without much fuss Eventually I plan on turbochraging my last GTS.... keeping it ...

Any little tidbits may improve this twin screw torque even more
