Re: BT 20V TPS tuning

> What happens if you very slowly increase the power through the problem rpm area? It may or may not be an acceleration correction problem. It's totally fine doing this, gradually getting on the throttle carefully. I recently had an MOT test and my friend suggested my idle emissions showed it was ru...

BT 20V TPS tuning

Hiya, I'm trying to get my BT engine running as best as it can in my AE86. It's on a stock A/T ECU right now (was running a HKS piggyback but I removed it) and it has a bit of a "wall of hesitation" around 2k-3k rpms with wide throttle applied. I'm wanting to check my TPS has the right rea...

Re: Starting issues after piggyback ECU removal

got it to run with some easy start, shame it's PISSING it down right now but I'll see if it holds idle or if there's a fuelling issue

Re: Starting issues after piggyback ECU removal

Ok interesting update, I put my battery on a charger for a bit and put it back in as it somehow reckoned it had already recharged (also made sure the negative terminal was properly on rather than slipped on and not tightened) and the car was cranking. It didn't start firing - but I also know the MAP...

Starting issues after piggyback ECU removal

I've got a blacktop 20v engine in my ae86, with the blacktop A/T AE111 ECU that has a HKS FCON VPRO Ver2 piggyback ECU. This version is only tunable by professionals with the software who read Japanese, and seeing as my engine runs too rich (even for a 20v) and is running awful in the cold weather -...

Re: 20v Blacktop oil temperature high with cooler

Cheers for the replies guys. I would try to put a heat shield around the oil filter and adaptor. Is you temp sensor located near the exhaust system, or is air flow restricted in the engine bay? I bought some aluminium heatshield that I plan to form into an open top box around the oil filter. Temp se...

Re: 20v Blacktop oil temperature high with cooler

If l remember correctly engine oil temps are based on engine rpm.. makes sense.. You are using higher cruising rpm's due to your lower FD so you would expect higher temperatures. Maybe you could try to lower coolant temperature or ideally fit a larger oil cooler. Heat exchangers, oil/water are appa...

20v Blacktop oil temperature high with cooler

I have a slightly odd setup for my oil routing, but it seems fairly common for AE86s with 20v engine swaps. The oil filter is relocated to the strut tower, above the exhaust manifold, and then routed to an oil cooler. The whole kit is a Greddy one, thermostatic with AN10 lines. The oil temperature a...

Front brake calliper slider pin cap

Hi, I recently changed the brake pads and discs on my 1985 Trueno and put too much grease on the slider pin for RH front calliper (which I then forced on with a hammer when it wouldn't slide all the way) and it caused the cap at the back of the calliper to start coming off. Tried getting it properly...
